I love the run up to Christmas, the flurry of catching up with friends and parties and the change of season (to the full heat of summer or the freeze of winter depending on which way up you face).
I tend to try to cram everything into the last month of the year that I haven't managed to do from my new years resolutions. But I think learning French will roll over yet again to next years list, like it does every year.
I'm never sure when the twelve days of christmas are...but I'm going to concentrate on the 24 days before Christmas and try and get the following done:
:: "Christmas craft-off" - hand made presents for my family. I've made a small start and have some ideas, this one has a good chance of success.
:: Christmas tree - for the first time since we have been together, Smithy and I are staying at home so we thought for our first "married" christmas we should make an effort to be festive. This weekend we're going to Columbia Road markets to hopefully snap up a tree.
:: Christmas decorations - see point above - we don't have one string of tinsel or a single light to put on the tree. Ideally I would do something incredibly creative. Smithy suggested Argos would be a good option. I think he may end up being right. Well that or Tescos (nooooooo!!)
:: Wedding thank yous - I made the invites so now it only seems right to make the thank you cards as well. Could take awhile.
:: Get plans for the house renovations into council for approval. We're making good progress on this with Andy the Architect.
:: Cook something. Plum pudding perhaps? Have made first step of buying "Easy Christmas Recipies" magazine. Will cross-check with Delia Smith to be safe.
:: Have lots of fun with friends! Most important!
I'm off to work now. Tomorrow the challenge begins!
